Ryads of Morocco

On this tour, visit three of Morocco's most interesting cities, and stay at deluxe ryads (traditional guesthouses) in the center of town. After a short tour of Casablanca, drive to Oualidia and relaxe at the delightful "la Sultana located at the edge of the lagoon in this small fishing village. the following day drive to Essaouira the millennia-old trading post. Explore narrow streets lined with whitewashed buildings designed in Moroccan, Portuguese and Berber vernacular styles, and enjoy the relaxed waterside cafes and local artisan studios......

What's a Ryad:

Traditional ‘riads’ are our favourite places to stay in Morocco. These charming private homes offer accommodation to just a few guests and provide a uniquely Moroccan experience.Staying in a riad is one of the highlights of a trip to Morocco; the typical design has rooms opening off an enclosed courtyard with a garden or cooling fountain. They tend to be small, from four to 20 rooms, and are furnished in a mixture of traditional and modern French-influenced styles.

When to Go

Morocco can be roughly divided into three climatic regions: the higher interior of the Rif and Atlas mountain ranges, the coast, and the desert areas of the south.
Throughout the country, the temperature varies considerably over the course of a day, and a sweater may be necessary even on a summer evening, whilst winter temperatures can fall low enough for frost and snow on the mountain tops. Rain does fall during the winter, although not often and seldom in large amounts.
The coastal regions can be visited year-round; in the winter they are pleasantly mild, and bask in mid-twenties celsius temperatures in the summer.
The high interior can also be visited year-round, although it does get cold in winter, with averages in the late teens celsius.
The southern desert areas experience similar climate to the high interior, although temperatures are hot, reaching an average of up to 40ºC in summer.
